SUBJECT: RUBBING NOISE COMING FROM FRONT (TIMING BELT COVER) AREA OF ENGINE
MODEL(S): FORENZA, FORENZA WAGON, RENO (RQ420)
YEAR: 2004~2008
CONDITION: The timing belt cam sprocket may be rubbing the inner surface of the timing belt cover.
CAUSE: The timing cover may be slightly warped causing contact with the cam sprockets.
CORRECTION: Please remove the cover and grind 2 mm of material from the timing cover at the  area where the sprocket has contacted and re-install the cover. Use the attached instructions for inspection and repair.

FRONT AXLE CLICKING NOISE WHEN TURNING AT TEMPS BELOW 15°F – 2007-2008 Suzuki XL7

SUBJECT: FRONT AXLE CLICKING NOISE WHEN TURNING AT TEMPS BELOW 15°F
MODEL(S): XL7 (JC636)

AFFECTED VIN(S): ~2S3DB217586110145  MANUFACTURED BEFORE OCT. 12, 2007
CONDITION: Axle clicking similar to a failing Constant Velocity (C.V.) joint most noticeable when turning and accelerating from a stop with the outside temperature at or below 15°F. Clicking noise will diminish as the C.V. joint warms up from driving.
CAUSE: Axle joint grease.
CORRECTION: DO NOT REPLACE THE AXLE SHAFT OR C.V. JOINTS. New C.V. joint boot with premium grease is available. Follow the service manual procedure found under “Front Wheel Drive Shaft Outer Joint and Boot Replacement” to remove and replace the affected outer C.V. joint grease and boot using the new part number listed below.

SUBJECT: CUSTOMER SERVICE CAMPAIGN “NJ” A/C LEAK CHECK AT SUCTION HOSE
MODEL(S): FORENZA, FORENZA WAGON, RENO (RQ420) 2008
YEAR:
AFFECTED VINS: SEE ATTACHED VIN LIST
NOTE: There may be VINs between the affected VIN numbers that are not included in this campaign. If the vehicle is in dealer inventory or the customer brings the vehicle in for any kind of service, please check vehicle history on Suzuki Connect to verify wether the VIN is affected or not.
CONDITION: A/C may not be getting as cold as usual or may not cool at all.
CAUSE: The A/C suction hose was incorrectly manufactured between March 1st and May 31st of 2008. The bead thickness at the connection between the suction hose and compressor was incorrectly manufactured.
CORRECTION: Dealers are to leak check and if necessary replace the suction hose assembly on all affected in-stock and customer vehicles regardless of vehicle age, mileage, or date of visit. Please check under the engine hood at the core support for the “Purple” “NJ” sticker or the vehicle warranty history to verify if the repair is already done. Please follow below instructions to inspect and replace the suction hose on affected vehicle.

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT “ON”, DTC P0128 – 2007-2008 Suzuki XL7

SUBJECT: CHECK ENGINE LIGHT “ON”, DTC P0128 (ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) BELOW THERMOSTAT REGULATING TEMPERATURE) -OUTSIDE TEMPERATURES BELOW FREEZING
MODEL(S): XL7 (JC636)
YEAR: 2007~2008
CONDITION: Check engine light is ON with DTC P0128 (Engine coolant temperature (ECT) below thermostat regulating temperature) stored.
CAUSE: Mis-calibration for vehicles with rear HVAC. Heat up time exceeded due to extra coolant capacity of rear HVAC equipped vehicles.
CORRECTION: DO NOT REPLACE THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) OR THERMOSTAT! Please follow the service manual procedure to reprogram the ECM with the latest software. Be sure to click “Clear DTC’s” after programming finishes. See below.

If the transmission cannot be shifted, it can increase the risk of a crash.

 

Summary

Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. (Suzuki) is recalling certain 2009-2013 Grand Vitara vehicles equipped with a manual transmission.

The gear shift rear shaft on these vehicles may break, preventing the gears from being able to be changed.
